Today's photo is actually a completed project that again, complies with the criteria for my daily photo selections.

Subject:  Baby Blanket knit with Mini Mochi
Date Taken: August 25, 2013
Comments:  Normally, colorways in yarn dyed commercially leave something to be desired for me, but this yarn (it's actually 4 balls of one colorway, and 1 ball of a second colorway) has everything I like in a long-repeat dyed yarn...it's deep, broody colors...many random stripes and a palette that I find very satisfying.

Current Knitting

I finished the Mini Mochi baby blanket.  Here's the boring from-up-above photo of the completed blanket.

I used a simple garter-rib (3 x3) with a minimal garter boarder.  Simple and easy and even after a washing, I find the fabric soft and beautiful.

Subject:  Playground Climbing Equipment

Comments:  The bright sculptural beauty of these playground toys caught my eye in a very pleasing way, both from a color perspective, but also from a sculptural one.  Amazing how far playground design has come since my childhood.

Subject:  Poisonous Berries

Comments:  All through my childhood, I saw these luscious looking, deep red berries growing, and despite how appealing they looked, I was always warned they were poisonous.  I have no idea if they are or aren't poisonous, but I loved the close-up of them against the out-of-focus foliage in the background.

Comments:  Two of my favorite things...fresh Jersey tomatoes from a local farm stand and a vivid green bowl.  Not colors I would normally pair up, but I'm pleased with the outcome none the less.

Subject:  Koigu Interlocking Crochet Scarf

Comments:  Today's photo is of the completed scarf project I've been working on.  Koigu produces some amazing colorways (or colourways as they might type it) of their KPPPM yarn and I love how this stitch pattern blends them in a way that doesn't make the overall effect muddy, but has sparks of color bursting out everywhere.

Current Knitting

As noted in the photo section, I was able to finish a project, and since the Koigu Interlocking Crochet Scarf is so colorful, I could use it in my daily photo posting as well.  Here's another photo of the completed scarf.

I do have a few ends to weave in, and I made a slight "design element" change (aka mistake) but I like the randomness of how the "mistake" looks, so it truly could have been a design element.

Subject:  Section of an Indian Fabrics Quilt

Comments:  Textures and colors as well as metallic threads all combine beautifully in this textile hanging in my favorite Indian restaurant. Today's photo was again taken with my iPhone, so the quality isn't quite as good as I would have hoped, but it was a perfect example of richness of colors that I couldn't possibly miss out on.

Comments:  Love how the artist added unusual colors to the face of Kafka and also found the red/green color combination interesting and vibrant and beautiful.

Color Appeal

Do you spend any time looking through Pinterest for knit-related items to post?  Have you seen a trend in what folks re-Pin or "Like"?

It's Usually Vibrant Colors

Not always, but usually when I find a particular knit stitch or garment in my Pinterest feed, and I find myself compelled to save it to my Knitting and Crochet pin board, it's usually something done in bright, vibrant colors.

Which tells me two thing:

1. If I want something to be popular and be re-pinned or liked on Pinterest, make sure the photo of the object is in bright, vibrant colors.
2. I should look at the more bland colored knitting posts on Pinterest to try and imagine them in vibrant colorways, to see if they might be a great example of something done in brighter colors.

Current Knitting

Well, I've finally gotten past the raglan increases on the Top-Down Raglan pullover I'm making.

I'm actually looking forward to the next section of knitting which requires absolutely no concentration for me at all.  The top section required constant counting and making sure I remembered if I was on an increase row or not.  Now all I have to make sure of is not to go past the length I'm going for in the body of the sweater before starting the ribbing at the bottom.

Readers' Comments/Questions

Thanks for all the feedback on mustache.  I think most people realized I wasn't really planning on growing one and I also don't plan on naming any future adopted children Adolph.  If you've ever seen the movie Clerks II, the character Randall tries to reclaim a racist term, and that was really my inspiration for the last blog post.

Also, my sister-in-law of mine is Jewish, and she was telling me that her grandfather (also Jewish) wore a Hitler mustache.  She even texted me a photo to prove it.

I'm not really sure I'd consider this a Hitler-like mustache...more like a soul-patch above the lip.  I also thinks he looks good with it.  Me, not so much.
