This stitch create a very interesting effect - knit texture looks a lot like aster flower.

This stitch create a very interesting effect - knit texture looks a lot like aster flower. You can use different colours for the different points of the flower and any size you like. The aster knitting stitch is great for baby girl sweaters. It makes a nice soft not-too-bulky and nice-looking fabric

Skill: Intermediate

How to knit:
Aster flower: Slip 5 sts to right-hand needle dropping extra loops, slip these 5 sts back to left- hand needle, (purl 1, yarn over, purl 1, yarn over , purl 1) into all 5 sts together.

Color A, cast on a multiple of 6 sts + 1.
Row 1 (Wrong side): Color A, knit all sts.
Row 2 (Right side): Color B, slip 1, * (knit the next stitch wrapping the yarn twice around the needle) 5 times, slip 1; repeat from * to end.
Row 3: Color B, slip 1, * aster flower, slip 1; repeat from * to end.
Row 4: Color A, knit 1, * knit 5, knit 1 with the loose strand behind; repeat from * to last 6 sts, knit 6.
Row 5: Color A, knit all sts.
Row 6: Color B, slip 4, * (knit the next stitch wrapping the yarn twice around the needle) 5 times, slip 1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, slip3,
Row 7: Color B, slip 4, * aster flower, slip 1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, slip 3..
Row 8: Color A, knit 4, * knit 5, knit 1 with the loose strand behind ; repeat from * to last 9 sts, knit 9.
Row 9: Color A, knit all sts.
Repeat rows 2-9 until you have reached your desired length.
