The Daisy Stitch is a knitting technique that creates a rounded flower shape of some stitches with a small hole in the middle and not as difficult as it looks. The daisy stitch is one of those terrific knitting stitches that works well with single colored or multicolored projects. It is great for baby girl sweaters.
Skill: IntermediateKnitting instructions:
- Daisy stitch: Slip next 5 sts knitwise to RH needle dropping extra loops, slip them back to LH needle, (knit 1, yarn over, knit 1, yarn over, knit 1) into all 5 stitches together through the back loop.
Cast on: multiple of 6 sts + 1
Pattern instructions:
Row 1 (RS) : Knit
Row 2: Purl 1, * purl 5 wrapping yarn twice around needle for each purl st, purl 1; repeat from * to end.
Row 3: Knit 1, * daisy stitch, knit 1; repeat from * to end.
Row 4: Purl 4, * purl 5 wrapping yarn twice around needle for each purl st, purl 1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, purl 3.
Row 5: Knit 4, * daisy stitch, knit 1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, knit 3.
Repeat rows 2-5 until you have reached your desired length.
